This was my journey...

In 2000 I got my first dog, a rescued German Shepherd, and I remember worrying if I’d done the right thing. Does she have a good temperament? How would I know? What if she bit someone? Is she happy? Why does she do that to other dogs? Can I trust her? Does she love me? What is she trying to say….??? I would have LOVED this course, with its clear explanations, everyday language and almost a Dog to English Dictionary with photos and videos of body language and what it all meant.

In 2004 after 2 years of intensive studying in dog training and behaviour I began to work professionally with dogs and I felt sick with nerves before each meeting with a new client in case that was about to be the dog I didn't understand and couldn’t help. Knowing enough to know I didn’t know it all and some things I saw just didn’t make sense, (hint - if you think you know it all you actually know very little… it’s just you don’t know enough to know that yet!) What if I couldn’t read this dog? Why on earth are they doing that? We’ve been taught that most things are fear-based… but this dog does NOT seem fearful!!! I would have LOVED this course... and found it such a relief. To be able to read body language as a whole, and not just see 'Calming Signals', but instead to be able to read all of their communication to be able to learn from someone with decades of experience share their stories with me.

In 2014 after 10 years of working professionally in dog training and behaviour, including mentoring other trainers and behaviourists - Knowing quite a lot and reading most body language pretty well… but always wanting to learn more. Wanting to have a way of seeing WHO that dog is, not just how they are feeling. Wanting more in depth insights into dog body language that go beyond the A, B, C of behaviour. You know... the nuggets of gold that really excellent trainers and behaviourists gather over the years. Wouldn't it be helpful if someone could spend long enough learning from them, publicly thank them, and then gather those nuggets together and then put them into a course. THIS course. I would have LOVED this course... the depth that it goes into, understanding that weight shifts can not only tell you how the dog is feeling but in many cases give you an insight into who they really are AND the effect of our weight shifts on them. To know the multitude of TINY signals that are usually ignored and are indicators of pain in dogs. To understand the nuance of threat signals to understand when they are and are not appropriate. Oh yes, and the BRAND NEW RESEARCH RESULTS of my 3 years of study into the direction of tail wags, what it means and how it is VERY different to the university research results into it. How can that help you in your work? How do dogs use it in communication?

In 2025, after 25 years of studying dogs, over 20 years working professionally with thousands of them, living with 9 of my own, and 3 years of filming and editing this course, I offer you The Dog Course... and this course is for YOU if you can relate to any part of my journey.
